Objectives:

Provide a review of upper extremity arterial and venous anatomy, with both diagrams and ultrasound imaging.
Outline a protocol for the pre-operative assessment of vascular access for dialysis fistula creation or graft placement (a.k.a. vessel mapping) and review the qualifying criteria for each.
Explain the most common types of fistulas and grafts that sonographers may encounter, as well as possible complications, and how to evaluate them during imaging.
