Excellence in Sonography Awards
Call for Entries
BB Imaging proudly presents the third annual Excellence in Sonography Awards! This award program was founded to honor individuals in the sonography community who elevate the industry through their skill and inspire others through their excellence and passion.
Categories and Eligibility
A nominee may be nominated for more than one category, and past winners are eligible to win again. Current BB Imaging team members are not eligible to win an award.
Awards will be presented in five categories:
Leader in Sonography
Recognizes a sonographer who demonstrates a long-standing commitment to the field, evidenced by advanced skill levels, exceptional patient care, and the mentorship of young professionals. Nominees must be currently registered and employed in the United States.
Distinguished Educator
Recognizes a teacher, professor, or program director who demonstrates dedication to the education and training of future sonographers. Nominees must be currently employed in the United States by a CAAHEP-accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
Rising Star
Recognizes a sonographer who is new to the field and demonstrates skill and promise as evidenced by certifications, advanced skill levels, and exceptional patient care. Nominees must have 5 years of experience or less in the field. Nominees must be currently registered and employed in the United States.
Sonography Student
Recognizes a sonography student who demonstrates academic achievement and passion for the sonography industry. Nominees must be currently enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited educational program within the United States.
Industry Influencer
Recognizes a sonographer who amplifies the voice of the sonography community as demonstrated by forming partnerships, speaking up in the public sphere, and encouraging interest in and support for the field of sonography. Nominees must be currently registered and employed in the United States.
Details
Nominations
Nominations may be submitted by peers, community members, or employers, and self-nominations are accepted. Nominations must be completed through the nomination form linked on this webpage before the submission deadline and should include:
The nominee’s profile information: full name, city/state of employment or schooling, email address, current registries, and current employer.
A short essay of 250 words or less stating why the nominee should win the award. Please include proof points for the specific category selected.
(Optional) The name of the sonography school the nominee graduated from and their LinkedIn profile URL. This information will aid us in social media promotion.
Before completing your nomination, we recommend reviewing the categories to ensure you’re submitting the nominee for the category that best fits them. Additionally, submissions are stronger when they contain detailed information and examples of the nominee’s impact. Think about the positive effects they have had on coworkers, providers, patients, and the community or industry. What stats, stories, and proof points can you tell us about?

Completely free! Our goal is to spotlight exceptional talents in our industry that may otherwise go unnoticed—not to make money.

Award Selection
Our judging panel will select one (1) individual per category to receive an award, resulting in a total of five (5) winners. All nominees not selected as winners will be recognized with an honorable mention.
Past Winners
Meet Your Judges
Kate O, RDMS (OB/GYN, AB) RDCS (FE): Kate is BB Imaging’s AVP of Clinical Services and has 15 years of ultrasound experience in women's health and maternal-fetal medicine. She completed her DMS program and bachelor of science at Arkansas State University.
Melissa M, RDMS (OB/GYN, FE): Melissa is the Director of Clinical Services for TeleScan and has 19 years of ultrasound experience in women's health and maternal-fetal medicine. She received her DMS degree from Austin Community College.
Jessica K, RDMS (AB, OB/GYN), RDCS (FE), RVT (VT): Jessica is BB Imaging’s Regional Director of Clinical Services for the Central Texas region. She’s going on four years of ultrasound experience and is passionate about maternal-fetal medicine.
Nena R, RDMS (AB, OB/GYN): Nena is the Director of Clinical Services in West Texas for BB Imaging. She has been a practicing sonographer for more than 20 years and earned associate degrees in DMS and business administration at EPCC. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in health administration at Baptist School of Health Professionals.
Jenna R, RDMS (AB, OB/GYN, FE): Jenna is BB Imaging’s Director of Clinical Services for the city of Dallas and our expanding Pacific Northwest region. Jenna has 29 years of experience, including 25 years in maternal-fetal medicine, and earned her associate degree from Cypress College.
Lashell J, RDMS (OB/GYN) RDCS (FE): Lashell is Lead Sonographer at Maternal Fetal Associates in Reston, Virginia. Lashell has more than 20 years of experience in women's health and perinatal medicine and is dedicated to providing high-quality educational resources for the ultrasound community.
